St. Luke Conference Society of St. Vincent de Paul completed nine years of service at the end of September 2020. It presently has 15 Active members and 9 Associate members. Active members attend meetings twice a month, which are currently conducted by phone. Associate members help with the packaging and distribution of food which was discontinued during the imposition of the lock down.
Our Service during our fiscal year from October to September 2020 accounted for:
(1) Rental assistance and motel stays to 16 families (41 individuals).
(2) Assistance for utilities, vehicle repairs, and apartment applications to 5 families.
(3) From food drives by schools and other community organizations and donations from parishioners, we collected approximately $17,000 worth of non-perishable food goods. Supplemented by donated funds and assistance from the L.A. Regional Food Bank, between October 2019 and February 2020, we distributed food valued at $33,000 to over 75 family units each month. Due to the lock down, service has been temporarily discontinued.
(4) We distributed grocery gift cards to close to 60 families each month from May to September.
(5) Our members made 30 home visits, 2 hospital visits, 7 eldercare visits and made 62 assistance visits to members of the local homeless community.
Join us! The Lightshine Choir welcomes all parishioners to join the group for a weekly virtual scripture study on Thursdays, 7:00-8:30 pm. We will discuss the scriptures for the coming weekend via Zoom. If you would like to join the group, contact Choir Director Justin Senneff at senneffj@yahoo.com. We’ll help you get set up with Zoom technology – it’s easy! For those without computer cameras, Zoom also allows for anyone to "call" into the meeting via their regular telephone or cell phone.
Our St. Luke Society of St. Vincent de Paul Conference wants our parishioners to know that food is available in our St. Luke Food Pantry if you are in need because of your inability to access food during the Covid-19 pandemic.
We are very grateful for the food that our generous parishioners have previously donated and though our Pantry Share Days have been paused, we can still make the food available for our parish family. All our food is shelf stable and does not include fresh produce or foods that require refrigeration.
Please call (626) 684-2914 and one of our SVdP members will make arrangements to deliver or have you safely pick up the food at the Pantry. We continue to pray for all of our generous parishioners and we look forward to the time when we can reopen our doors for our normal distribution.

The Community Table is currently closed while Masses are suspended due to COVID-19. When open, the table is hosted in the St. Luke Plaza after the 8:30 and 10:30 am Masses on most Sundays Fall-Spring. Come enjoy a doughnut and a cup of coffee. Share in fellowship with your family and your parish family and learn about our parish ministries. The Community Table is more than dollars and doughnuts. It is a wonderful way to continue the morning after sharing a meal together at the Eucharist.
Thank you to the many parish ministries and organizations that host hospitality at our Community Table throughout the year. And thank you to everyone's free will contributions.
