OneLife LA is an annual event hosted by the Los Angeles Archdiocese to celebrate and honor the beauty and dignity of every human life. This year, the 11th Annual OneLife LA will take place on Saturday, Jan. 18. Join with thousands from all over Southern California to witness, in the streets of Downtown LA, that each human being is sacred from conception to natural death.
This free event will kick-off at Noon at the Mural of Our Lady of Guadalupe at the Church of Our Lady Queen of the Angels (La Placita) on the corner of Main Street & Paseo Luis Olivares, and the one-mile Walk for Life begins at 12:30 pm. The event continues at Los Angeles State Historic Park at 1:00 pm with the OneLife LA Festival featuring inspiring speakers, live music, and food. The day concludes with a Requiem Mass for the Unborn at 5:00 pm at the Cathedral.

You, dear parishioners, have been most generous…thank you! We are getting more pantry guests, and our St. Luke St. Vincent de Paul conference is very appreciative of your help with keeping our pantry shelves well stocked. Our next Pantry Weekend is the weekend of Jan. 18-19.
These are the items we especially need this month: rice (1# and 2# packages), cereal (please, NO Cheerios!), jelly, instant oatmeal packages, spaghetti noodles, 6-packs of water, salad dressings, boxed Mac ‘n Cheese, and granola bars. Shopping carts will be at the church exists after all the Masses to collect your donations. Thank you for your support!
The St. Luke Food Pantry provides food, by appointment, to anyone who needs food. If you know of anyone in the parish or the community in need of food, please have them call (626) 684-2914.
Fr. Kumanda will be visiting our parish next weekend, Jan. 18-19, to speak at all the Masses on behalf of Cross Catholic Outreach, which was founded to forge a stronger and more supportive link between parishes in America and the priests and nuns serving the poor in the Caribbean, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Central and South America.
Fr. Kumanda will share some touching stories about the amazing work Catholic missions are accomplishing worldwide.
Since Cross Catholic Outreach empowers existing Catholic missions, its programs are extremely cost-effective, and the vast majority of the resources it collects go into program services that help the poorest of the poor around the world.

St. Luke’s will be offering an eight-week Bereavement Support Program for those who have lost someone dear. The program is very relaxed, non-threatening and open to all faiths. The 2-hour sessions will begin on Thursday, Feb. 6, and continue each Thursday through March 27.
Sessions will begin at 7:00 pm and are held in the Parish Resource Center (located in the Rectory). The only cost involved is $15.00 for the workbook (Financial help is available for those who cannot afford the workbook.). Please call the Pastoral Office at (626) 291-5900 for additional information.
The Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS) will next meet on Saturday, Feb. 8, 10:00 am-1:00 pm in the St. Luke Upper Room. MOMS is a study/support group for women to share, learn and bond in our Catholic Christian Faith, while gaining insight into our mission as mothers, whether we are biological, step, adoptive or spiritual moms.
Through peer ministry, self-discovery and prayer, together we will become more aware of our inner sacredness as women and as moms. Women who are not mothers are also welcome!
We are studying “My Book of Badass Saints” (Ave Maria Press 2015), by Maria Morera Johnson. We have used copies available for a small donation or you can purchase directly on Amazon in new or used condition. We meet once a month from January through June. Please e-mail us at [email protected] for more information ro to join us.
