40 Days for Life is a global effort to bring an end to abortion through forty days of prayer and fasting twice a year. The fall campaign of 40 Days for Life began on Sept. 27 and continues through Sunday, Nov. 5.
We invite you to join others from St. Luke and from neighboring parishes to stand and peacefully pray in the public right-of-way near Planned Parenthood El Monte at 4786 N. Peck Rd. (corner of Peck and Lower Azusa) during this fall 40-day vigil.
We have sign-up information and other material about 40 Days for Life outside the church after all Masses this Sunday, Oct. 1. Please prayerfully consider signing up for at least ONE HOUR during this fall campaign. Hours are 7:00 am to 7:00 pm daily through Sunday, Nov. 5.
You may also sign-up at www.40daysforlife.com/local-campaigns/el-monte/, or contact our area’s 40 Days for Life coordinator, Glendy, at (626) 756-6934 or [email protected]. For more information or questions, please leave a message for Wendy at (626) 233-0786.

Join us! Our annual Blessing of the Animals will take place on Sunday, Oct. 1, in honor of the upcoming feast of St. Francis of Assisi (Oct. 4), patron saint of animals and the environment. We give thanks to God for giving us these animal-companions and pray that we always treat them responsibly.
The Blessing of the Animals will be “drive-through” style from 1:00-2:00 pm. Drive (or walk) into the south parking lot from Cloverly, stop in front of the Resource Center for the blessing, and exit onto Broadway. All animals (and teenagers) in the vehicle will be blessed with holy water.
October is designated as Right to Life Month. During October we will be collecting baby items for the Pregnancy Help Center of San Gabriel Valley. Our crib will be set up inside the front entrance of the church on Sunday, Oct. 1, through Sunday, Oct. 29.
Small tags listing baby items that are needed will be hung around the sides of the crib. Please take one or more tags. Bring the items you have chosen to church and place them in or around the crib. There will also be a clothesline with items listed that are especially needed right now.
The center works with LOVE: L-Listen O-Observe V-Validate E-Encourage. Thank you for your donations and support for helping women choose life for their babies. For more information, contact Judy McCarthy at (626) 422-8436 or [email protected].
